Day #1 - Okotoks to Kennewick, Washington

We drove about 850 km today from Okotoks to Kennewick, Washington, via BC and Idaho.

Two stories for today:

1) We got about two hours from home when I  had a bad thought and asked "Did we pack Ben's hiking boots?"  The answer was nope.  Damn!!  We got on the phone and decided our best bet was to stop in Spakane at REI.  $250 later.....

2) We got a lesson at the border on the correct way to say Oregon.  When the border agent asked us why we were travelling to the States, I told him that we were going to the "Ora-gone" coast.  He said "Ora-gone didn't go anywhere, it's Ora-gun!", and that all us Albertans made the same mistake for some reason.  We thanked him for the lesson and quietly went on our way.

The drive was very nice.  The last couple hundred kilometres was very unique - rolling scrubland, very close to desert-like.

We are back in the hotel room now after dinner, watching The Last 48 before bed.  Off to Coos Bay tomorrow near the trailhead for our first day of waking on Monday.  Can't wait!
